A Visa is a permit to apply to enter into US territory and allow you to present yourself
to an immigration official at the U.S. border for entry into the U.S. A visa is issued by
a Department of State Consular Office abroad.
Immigrant visas is given to an individual who has the intention to live and work
permanently in the United States. In most cases, relatives or employers submit an
application on your behalf acting as your sponsors.
However skilled workers, investors, etc. can petition on their own behalf.
Nonimmigrant visa is given to an individual who is planning to stay temporally to the
United States, like tourist, businessmen, students, temporally workers and others.
A visa can be refused if you are not qualified under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and
Nationality Act.
Before you are approved for a visa, you need to prove that you will return to your
country.
The law required a proof that you have strong ties in your country to return back at the
end of your temporally stay.
Your consular officer may reconsider a case if you can show further convincing evidence of
ties outside the United States. You will be informed about reapplication procedures.
